Product Details

Metformin Hydrochloride

What is Metformin HCL?

Metformin Hydrochloride is a hypoglycemic agent. This product can reduce the fasting and postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. The HbAlc can decrease by 1% to 2%. The mechanism of reducing blood glucose in  3-(diaminomethylidene)-1 may be:

(1) increasing the sensitivity of the surrounding tissue to insulin and increasing the glucose utilization mediated by insulin.

(2) increase the utilization of glucose by non-insulin-dependent tissues, such as brain, blood cells, renal medulla, intestinal tract, skin and so on.

(3)The inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis, decreased glycogen output.

(4)Inhibit the uptake of glucose in the intestinal wall cells.

The Function&Application:

Metformin HCl is a medication that is often prescribed to anti-diabetic and anti-cancer activity. Metformin HCL is used for decreasing blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Metformin HCl is an abbreviation for metformin hydrochloride.
The medication works in several ways. Metformin HCL reduces the amount of sugar made by the liver, limits the amount of sugar absorbed into the body from the diet, and makes insulin receptors more sensitive (helping the body respond better to its own insulin). All of these effects cause a decrease in blood sugar levels.
Metformin HCl is typically taken one to three times a day and comes in several forms and strengths. Metformin HCL comes in tablet form, two different long-acting forms, and a liquid version.
