The chemical constituents contain indole alkaloids (including yohimbine) and pigments and tannins. Pharmacological action Yohimbine extract is a non-hormone drug. It can dilate vascular smooth muscle, reduce sympathetic nerve tension, increase blood flow of penile cavernous sinus by dilating penile artery, make penis erect and excite central sympathetic nerve.
The alkaloids contained in bark can excite the brain at medium doses, but they are highly toxic at high doses. It also has pharmacological activities in the treatment of atherosclerosis and rheumatism. The preparation method was weighed as Yohimbine 1 kg, moistened with 0.5% hydrochloric acid (2.5 L) of 2.5 times, then immersed in a leachate cartridge (20 cm in diameter) after 4 hours, and soaked with 10 times of 1% hydrochloric acid (10 L). The leachate was leached at a rate of 10 mL. min - 1 until the alkaloid reaction (Drag endo RFF reagent) was not shown in the leachate.
The total alkaloid extract was obtained by freeze-drying. Adverse reactions included loss of appetite, nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, elevated blood pressure, headache, dizziness, palpitation, rapid heartbeat, neuroticism, restlessness, insomnia, facial flushing, tremor, agitation, dysuria, back pain and allergic rash, with an incidence of 6.8%.
This product can also cause gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding, nasal obstruction and so on. This product is suitable for mental, neurological, vascular and diabetic impotence. In West Africa, it is often used as a stimulant and a drug for impotence.
At present, yohimbine has been used as a common drug to treat impotence, the dosage of 2 mg/kg can directly increase sexual desire; that is, the raw material medicine of "impotence must be treated" (each tablet contains 5.4 mg yohimbine). Yohimbine is also used in angina pectoris and atherosclerosis.
